Can You Label This?

Each student gets a paper with a word of a color on it. Whatever color it says, they have to go around the classroom and write 3 things in the class that is that color.

This is a great way for kindergarten students to remember colors and also practice their writing skills.

For example:

Initiative

in·i·ti·a·tive
iˈniSH(ē)ətiv/
noun 1. the ability to assess and initiate things independently.
Being initiative means that you are proactive and do things that need to be done. You don't procrastinate anything and if there is a problem you asses the problem and take care of it immediantly.
1. Give kids specific rules to follow.
2. If they are behind, put them in certain groups based off of how much they know.
3. If they are disturbing others around them move them somewhere else.
4. If they cry, put them in the hall until they are calmed down.
5. If the teacher cant handle the situation call the principal or another teacher to come help them.
6. Let them know at the beginning of the year how everything works.
7. Be strict at the beginning of they year so that they know you don't mess around.
8. Go to the students when they need help instead of making them come up to you.
9. Set boundaries.
10. If the kids are throwing a fit, make them go sit in the hall.
Synonyms to Initiative:
1. Action
2. Leadership
3. Ambition
4. Push
5. Drive
This week a student was being disruptive in the class so I removed him away from the situation and placed him by himself so that he wasn't bothering anyone else.
Initiative is an important thing for a teacher to possess in a classroom because you can handle a situation in an orderly manner so that the situation is taken care of before it gets worse.

Mrs. Briggs- Kindergarten

My first day at my site school was AMAZING. It was so much more fun then what I thought it would be and I had an amazing time!  The kids loved having an extra person there and they really enjoyed me getting to play with them. I can already tell that this year is going to be so much fun and I cant wait to go back! I'm looking forward to learning what is like to be in a classroom and teaching the kids as much as possible. All of the kids we so sweet and i cant wait to see what this year has in store!

Scenario 4
Whenever you go to your site school, you are responsible for your appearance and should be able to follow the dress code. For instance, say you have holes in your jeans, not the right shirt, and you forgot your badge. If you were smart, you would call your BCTAL teacher and explain to her why you don't have the right stuff. If you tell your teacher, you could possibly work out a way for you to get to your site school and not get in trouble. If you don't tell your teacher, you risk getting caught and getting in major trouble. If you go to your site school and have inappropriate  clothing on, it makes you look bad and people get the wrong impression of you.The kids in your class look up to you and your expected to be a good role model for them.

Significant Relationships

After reading Mrs. Stevens Blog, i began thinking about all my past teachers and how they have helped me with a part of my life. Mrs Dossey was one of my favorite elementary school teachers and here is why:

Mrs. Dossey
Second grade was one of the best years throughout elementary school because I had an amazing teacher. If it wasn't for her I don't think i would have had a very fun year. She taught me so many things and most of all she proved to all of us that she cared about each and every one of us. As a teacher, its very important to let your students know how much you care about them because it can make a huge difference in how well they succeed.
